Belagavi on Monday administered more than 95,000 vaccine doses, registers the highest vaccination in a single day.
The impressive numbers come on Day 1 of Centre rolling out new vaccination policy. Under the revised policy, the Centre has announced free vaccination to all above 18 years from today. Also, the procurement has been taken away from states and Centre will provide them free of cost.
Belagavi ranks second : Karnataka vaccinated more than 10 lakh people today. In which 1,17,568 doses were given in BBMP alone, and more than 95,000 doses given in Belagavi which stands second highest in the state. Followed by Ballari- 62,318, Tumakuru- 51,393, Mandya- 51,189, 6. Dakshina Kannada- 44,083, Bengaluru Urban- 41,925, Mysuru- 38,423, Chikkaballapura- 36,594, Uttara Kannada- 35,659, Bidar- 32,226, Raichuru- 32,062

The centralised vaccination policy, under which the Centre will procure 75 per cent of vaccines produced for distribution, started today. It coincided with International Yoga Day. The Prime Minister had announced the new policy earlier this month.

This has been driven by the efficient model of centralised model of vaccination along with ground-level efforts by state governments.
