Animal welfare organisations in Belagavi have raised alarm over the use of camels for entertainment purpose in Belagavi city.
Seven camels were brought to Belagavi for entertainment purposes. These camels along with their owners were taking shelter under Hindalco bridge. Due to lack of food and shelter, they struggling a lot to live. Mr. Akshay Deshpande took the initiative to send them back to their home town
After lockdown, as there was no business these camels and their owners were starving. One camel died of weakness. An animal NGO BARC( Belgaum Animal rescue and care ) volunteers today have sent 6 camels back to Pune APMC by private transport. These Camels were lifted by a crane.
Dr Sonali Sarnobat requested DC Mr. M G Hiremath for cooperation. These practices to use animals for human entertainment is been prohibited by law and HC order. Dr Sonali Sarnobat was present along with BARC volunteers.

Team also warned the owners not to use animals for entertainment purpose because these practices to use animals for human entertainment is been prohibited by law and HC order.
