Patients in the border district of Belagavi will no longer have to rush to Neighboring district for intensive care treatment, with the central government sanctioning a 50-bed critical care centre under the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission. The state government has given the project its administrative approval for the same on Friday.
The CCU will be built in BIMS premises, with Rs 27 crore being spent on the project. As per the plan, Critical care unit block will be 3 storey building where Ground floor to have 05 beds for emergency cases and 2 beds for Maternity cases . First Floor : DHU-06 beds, Dialysis-03 beds, Isolation room-02 beds, Isolation ward-24 beds. Second floor : ICU-10 beds, Pre OP-02 beds, Post OP-02 beds. Total 52 beds.

Karnataka cabinet on Friday has also given administrative approval for the various schemes and projects.

The Cabinet gave permission to a proposal to increase the cess being collected by sugar factories. The cess, which is charged in accordance with the total quantum of sugarcane crushed by the factories, had not been revised for over 30 years. The increase in cess amount would be passed on to the S. Nijalingappa Sugar Research Institute, which was set up by the State government in Belagavi to conduct research into sugarcane development and issues related to sugar production.
