To reduce traffic violations, police department has installed automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras on Bengaluru-Pune NH-48 upto Belagavi said Alok Kumar, Additional Director General of Police, Traffic & Road Safety, Karnataka, Bengaluru.
Total of 72 cameras have been installed from Bengaluru and till Belagavi. Police department has installed these cameras to curb traffic violations. If vehicles fail to maintain discipline, they will penalise them automatically through photos and videos of the vehicle.
While travelling on NH-48, all must follow traffic rules. Violations like Driving in opposite direction, Driver on call, Without seat belt in front seat, Without helmet, Triple riding violations, Lane violations etc being captured in cameras.
Cars, Jeeps, and other light vehicles should travel on the first lane; buses and trucks on the second lane; and finally, heavy goods vehicles and container trucks should use the third lane of the highway.
