‘The district administration will take necessary steps to provide the airport with approximately 57 acres of land required for the runway and terminal building expansion of the Belagavi airport’, said Deputy Commissioner Nitesh Patil.
On Wednesday, he chaired a meeting in the office hall of D.C concerning the allocation of land needed for the airport’s expansion.
He stated that in order to determine the necessary runway and terminal building land and its efficient use, a detailed report and blueprint must be submitted. Subsequently, land will be allocated accordingly.
Additionally, he instructed the officials to ensure that the airport director furnishes concise and documented details regarding the availability of alternative routes and other amenities for the nearby residents.
The Deputy Commissioner responded to the airport authorities’ question by stating that a sufficient amount of land has already been allocated. Therefore, only additional land required for the extension of the runway, terminal expansion, and installation of signal lights will be provided. The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of utilizing the existing land to the maximum extent possible. Furthermore, any land necessary for the expansion of the terminal will also be granted.
