Flight services were stopped in March when the nation went into lockdown to prevent the spread of coronavirus. The domestic civil aviation operations recommenced from May and gradually the service picked up pace after passengers gained confidence and started travelling.

The air passenger traffic at Belagavi airport registered a steep increase. There has been a steady improvement of passengers travelling in domestic flights from the airport after three months of ‘unlock’. About 50,000+ passengers have travelled to several destinations from Belagavi in the last four months.

The flight services from Belagavi to Bengaluru(4), Hyderabad (2), Mumbai (2), Ahmedabad, Kishangarh, Indore, Mysuru and Pune was launched in the ‘unlock’ phase. Everyday* 20-21* flights ferried passengers to Eight cities and in four months more than 50,000 passengers have travelled from to Belagavi.

Belagavi Airport handled 1416 flights in 107 days since May 25,2020. More than 50,000 passengers had safe journey from to Belagavi Airport. StarAir, IndiGo, SpiceJet, Alliance Air and Trujet took utmost care of passengers.

According to airport authorities, Belagavi Airport stands second in the passenger traffic in the months of June, July & August in Karnataka.

Demand for Belagavi – Delhi, Chennai & Kolkata service
The Belagavi airport authorities have received demand for air service between Belagavi – Delhi, Belagavi – Chennai. Based on demand, the airport authorities have sent a proposal to the Airport Authority of India (AAI) and Airlines.
Cargo Terminal :
State of art Cargo terminal to come up in Belagavi airport premises in 43,000 Sqft. Area. Proposal have been sent, awaiting for approval.
Another Passenger Terminal :
Due to steep increase in Passenger footfall, Another passenger arrival/Departure terminal have been Proposed. Awaiting for approval. Existing terminal building is spread over 3,600 square metres and has a capacity to accommodate over 300 passengers. It has two baggage conveyor belts and six check-in counters.
