
Flower sales are usually high in Belagavi During festivals like Deepavali, but this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic expected fall in sales but surprisingly it was high. According to Horticulture Department, they have sold a record of 2.5 Crore worth Flowers in Belagavi alone.
A record 200 tonnes of flowers were sold at Belagavi Flower Auction Center (BFAC) which was recently opened in Ashok Nagar by Horticulture Department.
Flower auction Center has made record with trade of Estimated amount of Rs 2.5 crore worth flowers in just 3 days – Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Flowers : Most popular flowers like White, yellow marigold & chrysanthemum, rose, aster, jargera, anthurium, arcade flowers were sold. Farmers from all the talukas of Belagavi district had brought flowers to BFAC. Prominent among these were Flowers of Boodigoppa of Savadatti taluk. The Chrysanthemum & SugandhRaja Flowers from Ramadurga taluk, were also became popular. Cut flowers, Rose, Jarjera, Anthurium flowers from Belagavi Taluka attracted flower lovers.

Record sales : Total of 16 stores opened at the Belagavi Flower Auction Center by the Horticulture Department. The allotment of these stores for the 55-month period is in the ratio of 75: 25. These stores have been distributed to 4-farmers, 2-Scheduled Caste, 1-Scheduled Tribe and 9-traders. Flower sales are at record highs in all of these stores.
